Roman Catholic practice of
bending the knee has diminished
since Vatican 2 and many of the faithful have adopted the practice of a rigid, unbending
genuflexion (known in some communities as a straight leg stance).
Their obeisance is a metaphysical phenomenon and resident within the heart. Some,
depending on their age and stage, have a temporary relapse and have been seen to bend the knee
but peer pressure is a corrective for such back-sliding. |
