Willow River cat predicts weather...
by Bernice Trick Prince George Citizen Staff Writer December 1, 2004
Fran Willis says her female feline named Tyger is more accurate at forecasting than The Weather Network. “When it’s going to be a sunny day, she cries at the porch door to go outside,” Willis said. “If it’s going to be ‑10ºC degrees or colder, she sleeps in the kindling box by the wood fire; and if there’s going to be a bad storm, she crawls inside the cloth beam on my weaving loom to sleep. “I knew it was going to snow (recently) because Tyger jumped up on the porch window and meowed,” said Willis. Tyger, a four‑year‑old domestic short‑haired tabby, is “pretty accurate in her predictions – much more so than The Citizen weather guy,” said Willis. There’s something else a little strange about Tyger. When Willis adopted her from the SPCA, she did so because Tyger had suffered a burn from a candle in her left eye that was nearly closed all the time. “I assumed she’d be disfigured for the rest of her life. Then one day a neighbour was having coffee with me and I told him about the eye,” Willis said. “He reached down and pulled Tyger’s tail, and her eye immediately popped open and she was healed.” http://www.theweathernetwork.com/
