Youth Last Sunday we put out the first candle, to remind us of the temptations which draw us away from God. Today we will put out the second candle, as we think about those times when we have had to make hard choices.

Adult Today we think of Abraham and Sarah who had to make a difficult choice, to leave home and to travel to a new land in response to God's call. Jesus too had to make a choice, to remain in safety or to travel to Jerusalem where death might await him.

Youth Lent is a time to make choices, to find the way to follow Jesus.

Adult We extinguish the second candle as we reflect on the choices we have made and are making. We think of Jesus who chose to follow God’s way even though that way brought danger and suffering. (the second candle is extinguished) Let us pray:

All O God, we confess that we have put our hope in many things: our families, our jobs, our friends, and our possessions. Help us to focus ourselves and put our trust in you. Give us the courage to choose what is right. May your constant love be with us as we put our hope in you. Amen!
