Sonnets

by The Highland Shepherd's

Poet Lariat

THE SPEAKING WORD

God is Being in the act of giving, the Father’s Word being spoken.
No loving gift without an understanding
nor giving love unknown, a muted token.
Love declared, is love’s response demanding!
To Whom this “act of giving”? To the Gift of course!
The Gift is the Beloved, begotten to receive
the whole Being of God, the Father, Source;
that is, receive Himself. (Who can conceive?)
The Word is Being’s enunciation, articulate divinity,
eternity’s reply of gratitude, to God,
(these Three!), speaker of the holy Trinity
reverberating in the very stones, the earthy sod.
Therefore lift your hearing to the houses peaks and tops
whence the Word, most public, shouts the truths of God and never stops.
