Sonnets

by The Highland Shepherd's

Poet Lariat

GOD HAS MOVED ON

The voice of God has many mouths
its speech cacophonous,
condemns and judges, tells and vows
to harden or to soften us.
Unholy clamour, all at once
in languages obscure!
Has God addressed the sage or dunce,
the wealthy or the poor?
Eschewed Elizabethan tongue?
He, no longer white,
is biased towards the child, the young
is colourful and bright!
God has slipped the surely bonds of Anglo middle class
Can the Church be sitting still on its collective ass?
