Goodness and the Word are habitat,

faithful essence of the Maker’s being;

the uterus of all that is, is seen;

give birth to all, of every being the act,

give each thing form; foetae of creation

within the membrane of the sky and stars,

pocked with a million early births, and scars

fed by bleeding light, divine gestation.

Until maturity, the Spirit’s call.

Then, take the passage to the greater life,

cut free by the divine physician’s knife

and enter the Creator’s all in all!

This universe of matter is Love’s womb

gives birth to life eternal through the tomb
