An Imperfect Life poetry by Fr. Harold Macdonald |

Imagine setting Holland’s people free from oppression, slavish life, hunger, fear! Restoring everything that they held dear: sixty years ago today - liberty! Cruel the rule! Hated German overlord! Under threat of death by execution the people lay in darkness without sun; inner hope their one defence, their only sword. Until Canadians sealed the German fate on dykes, in flooded fields, city and town defeated the invaders, beat them down! The Dutch will never fail to celebrate! The torch of freedom Canada held high and God rewarded us with victory.
