Journeying with Christ
across the Centuries

A Babe, a God in Bethlehem

both human and Divine.

He came to teach the way to God,

so humble and sublime.

He called to him the chosen twelve,

the truths of heaven revealed,

the miracles, the words he spoke,

the Holy Spirit sealed.

It was our Jesus crucified

who came to save the world,

and in the Eucharist He lives

in mysteries unfurled.

The centuries fly by,

Vocations multiply.

Monasteries teeming,

Convents gleaming.

The bells begin to toll.

Vocations fall.

Such a dearth upon this earth.

But then, where faith is sound,

grace doth more abound.

The Spirit moves where’er he wills,

here, there and everywhere.

We, this new millennium,

follow His steps too,

to spread the sacred Word of God

and make all things anew.

In this small global village,

now very much aware of poverty,

riches, violence,

These are our prayer.

Our prayer goes up like incense,

to all we feel akin,

especially to the suffering,

and all those deep in sin.

The love of God and others,

to pray and contemplate.

That is the way to save the world

and grace to radiate.

Our daily lives of faith and love

reveal something of heaven above.

Where love and faith are genuine,

Christ said, “Fear not, I am with you

Until the end of time”.
