In Communion with Jesus
To strive for holiness is what He asks, this gentle God of ours. In the silence of our monasteries, those recollected hours. Chaste, poor, obedient, we leave all else behind. We follow in His footsteps, our hearts in His enshrined.
The armour of the Lord we wear with Elijah’s sword in hand. In the midst of all adversities, upright we stand. Kindness, respect and caring, acceptance, forgiveness and sharing, these are our warfaring.
‘Tis love of God and self-denial, our Holy Father taught, but charity must reign supreme, without which all else is naught. St. Teresa, yes, she wrote those books all filled with holy fire. But first, she said, humility, detachment are the things to which we must aspire.
To live in the present moment, oh! But how it flies. The present moment is with us now, if only we could realize. Each moment filled with love of God, with prayer, gratitude and joy, e’en though there be hardships, our God is always nigh.
Thus the Gospel will be spread abroad, the Word of God will be adored, And humankind shall see The salvation of our God.
