Yule Log |

The custom of burning a Yule Log continues in some areas. The log or ‘back junk’ is cut before Christmas and at sunset on Christmas Eve is placed at the back of the hearth. A blaze is taken from the burning log at midnight on Christmas Eve and thrown over the house to protect it form the danger of fire throughout the coming year. |
