Purple Ribbon Campaign

to end Domestic Violence...

Abuse is no respecter of orientation

Purple is the colour for Advent.

It is also the colour of bruises.

Some may be more familiar with bruises than Advent.  In any event, Jesus birth brought him into a world that has been no stranger to bruises.

  • If you have been bruised, then this page is for you.

  • If you have bruised another, this page is for you.

  • If you intend to keep Advent, you dont want to avoid this page.

  • The bruised, the bruisers, you and me... by his wounds we have been healed...

Bruises sustained at the hands of abusers cry out for healing. It is time to remind our country of the hidden secrets many of us face daily,  in their nice warm pretty homes, hidden behind closed doors... in a place once thought that would serve as a place of comfort and love. These wounded and bruised could be:

Your Best Friend • Your Mom Your Daughter

A Co-Worker A neighbour Possibly even you

There are many faces in domestic violence. There is no stereo type situation Strong Powerful Men and Women, Stay-at-Home Wives and Mothers, the President of the PTA, the clerk in the grocery store, a CEO in charge of a corporation. The person being beaten can be anyone! The only trait this victim will have in common with all the others is how to hide the abuse from others. Scars are carried inside, and the bruises are hidden from our eyes. Victims need to know, and we all must join hands to show, that they do not have to walk alone anymore!

So often, time and time again, a person being abused hides the abuse. Embarrassed, scars and welts are hidden. Self esteem has diminished. It has been stolen by the abuser. Feeling like a failure, victims walk alone, afraid to let anyone in. No one will understand. And worse, your judgment weighs heavy. I encourage you to stand for this victim. To take a hand -- gently. To be there to listen, without judging. What is needed is a true friend, a shoulder -- you. A fragile life may depend on you.

Become acquainted with Domestic Violence. Step up to bat for people suffering abuse. Become more aware. Spread the word. Offer safety. Get involved. Spread the word. Involve others. We can all Make A Difference, one heart at a time!
