The Airing of Grievances...

At the Festivus dinner, the Airing of Grievances allows for the  participants to vent their hostility towards friends and family.  Rehearsed are all of the instances where they disappointed them that year.  Each person speaks in turn, from the eldest to the youngest as long as strength endures.

When the Dinner is over the host of the feast introduces the Airing of Grievances

The host begins by airing grievances that have accumulated since the Festivus Dinner
 of the previous year

After the host has vented his grievances an opportunity then is extended to others
 who in turn ventilate
