Black Madonna of Czestochowa

The painting is known as the Black Madonna of Czestochowa  – allegedly because of the soot residue that discolours the painting. Centuries of votive lights, devotional incense and candles burning in front of the painting in this Polish parish church are the cause of the soot. Here is a great video about it: Return Home
